In the 2024 presidential election, Donald Trump secured a historic victory in Texas. This surge contributed to Republicans gaining two Texas House seats, while five competitive U.S. House districts shifted +10 toward Republicans. Nationally, Republicans won the popular vote and Electoral College. Voter registration trends favor Republicans: In 30 states with party data, GOP added 4+ million new Republican registrations in closed-primary states. Redistricting battles intensify as California faces claims of 3+ “illegal” districts inflated by undocumented immigrants in the census—potentially costing 2–4 extra House seats—prompting Democrats to redraw maps around rising Republican votes, while Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker eyes mid-decade changes to counter Texas GOP’s push for +5 seats, amid historical midterm patterns where president’s party loses. These shifts, including states expanding Republican districts without gerrymandering Democratic areas, signal GOP momentum into 2026 midterms, where Democrats fear repeating 2010’s historic 63-seat loss under Obama.

  • Hispanics voted for Trump in Texas. The five districts in Texas would be plus 10 republicans and the blue areas will have representation. In California they are pulling the democrat districts over. There are 3 or more districts that are illegal due to the number of illegals that are counted in their census. The nation voted Republican in 2024. The growth across the nation and the growth of registered voters for republicans. All the states are doing is increasing the areas of the republican districts. They are not gerrymandering the democrat areas. But in California and Illinois they are trying to draw around their increased republican vote. In 2010, Democrats lost a historic 63 seats with Obama. The democrat party is not over. In the mid term you always lose house seats. They are concerned that in Trump’s first mid term Trump lost 40 seats. In 2022 Biden only lost 9 democrat seats in his midterm. There are 4+M new republican registered voters in only 30 states who have closed primaries where you have to register republican or democrat. Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina and Pennsylvania all showing loss in democrat registrations. The people that are registering republican are registering the party of Donald Trump.
