  • GA has updat­ed its list of state employ­ee salaries. Kir­by Smart is the high­est paid employ­ee. 15 employ­ees made more than $1M and 121 earned more than $500K. Job titles in the 500K club. 68 uni­ver­si­ty pro­fes­sors or depart­ment lead­ers, 27 ath­let­ic coach­es or staff, 11 col­lege offi­cers, 5 coun­ty super­in­ten­dents (Barrow-$691K, Walton-$561K, Cherokee-$533K, Tift-$530K, Cobb-$517K, Fulton-$497K – and we ful­ly fund our school sys­tems accord­ing to Bri­an Kemp) , 3 teacher retire­ment office investors, 2 chan­cel­lors and vice chan­cel­lors, 2 ath­let­ic admin­is­tra­tors, 2 GA ports author­i­ty exec­u­tives, 1 Depart­ment of Trans­porta­tion com­mis­sion­er (Rus­sell McMur­ry, salary $531K) and you think that Bri­an Kemp only makes $182K a year. LT Gov Burt Jones earned about $99K. There are oth­er ben­e­fits and perks to the job. Our politi­cians have become so wealthy in office. 
  • There was a time when the peo­ple elect­ed their school super­in­ten­dent. We abol­ished it to cre­ate the behe­moth that lords over you.
