In an interview, JaQuon Stembridge, candidate for GAGOP Assistant Secretary, outlines his mission to engage young conservatives, particularly Gen Z. Awakened to conservative values during COVID, he founded the District 10 Young Republican group, having never heard such messages before 2020. As a Black Trump supporter and District 10 communication director, he contrasts Republican emphasis on individual liberty and safety with Democratic control and intolerance of dissent. A double major in finance and political science at UNG, Stembridge is active in student government, substitute teaching, and church, playing drums for the worship team.
If elected, he pledges to work year-round—not just during elections—to promote the party’s identity and values. He aims to build coalitions with teen and college Republicans, noting Democrats already target schools and Black communities, while the next generation isn’t seeking Republicans. Contactable at [email protected] and active on Instagram, Facebook, and X, Stembridge seeks to bring fresh energy to the GAGOP.
- There is a general discussion on how to get young people involved. JaQuon is going to work on reaching out to the younger generation. COVID opened his eyes. He never heard the conservative messages prior to 2020. In 2023 he started the district 10 young republican group. He wants to bring GenZ to the table.
- The lessons JaQuon learned as a black man supporting Donald Trump. The democrats were the ones that were wanting control of your life. The republicans were more focused on that the individuals were in control of their own lives. The democrats were condemning any opposition. The republicans are for the safety of the citizens. He is the communication director for the 10th district.
- Double major with finance and political science, part of the student government at UNG. he is also a substitute teacher. Very involved in church, he plays the drums for the worship team.
- Agenda items and bring to the state party if elected. We need an assistant secretary that is willing to do the work. We can’t just show up during elections. We need to send the message even when it is not election time. What our party stands for and who we are. He wants to build coalitions with the teen republicans, college republicans and the party. The next generation is not searching for republicans. Democrats are already going to the schools and the black communities.
