A Good Friday Special: Jesus, the Leavened Bread, the Bread of Life

  • Today is Good Friday. BKP Good Friday Special. Jesus is the bread of life and our Lord and Savior.
  • On this sacred Good Friday, we contemplate the powerful imagery of leavened bread in relation to Jesus Christ, the Bread of Life. While unleavened bread, used in the Passover, symbolizes purity and the absence of sin, leavened bread can represent transformation, growth, and the pervasive influence of God’s Kingdom. In this sense, Jesus as the “leavened bread” embodies the risen, transformative power of His life and sacrifice, which permeates and uplifts humanity.
  • In John 6:35, Jesus proclaims, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” On the cross, Jesus offered His body, broken yet filled with the divine power to transform lives, much like leaven spreads through dough. His sacrifice, commemorated today, infuses the world with hope, grace, and the promise of eternal life, raising us from the weight of sin to the fullness of redemption.
  • As we reflect on Good Friday, let us embrace Jesus, the leavened bread, whose transformative love works within us. Through His death, He became the catalyst for our spiritual renewal, spreading His life-giving presence to all who believe. May we honor His sacrifice by allowing His grace to rise within us, transforming our hearts and lives. Blessed Good Friday.
  • The New Testament is hidden in the Old, but the Old Testament is revealed in the New.
