Trump Administration Faces More Scrutiny Over Epstein Case Handling

Ghis­laine Maxwell, serv­ing a 20-year sen­tence for sex traf­fick­ing as Jef­frey Epstein’s asso­ciate, report­ed­ly told Deputy Attor­ney Gen­er­al Todd Blanche in a nine-hour, two-day inter­view that she nev­er wit­nessed Don­ald Trump engage in con­cern­ing behav­ior relat­ed to Epstein’s crimes. The Trump admin­is­tra­tion is con­sid­er­ing releas­ing these inter­view tran­scripts, amid pres­sure from both sup­port­ers and crit­ics to unseal Epstein-relat­ed grand jury tes­ti­mo­ny. Attor­ney Gen­er­al Pam Bon­di, who report­ed­ly briefed Trump in May 2025 that his name appeared in Epstein files, has faced accu­sa­tions of selec­tive­ly redact­ing doc­u­ments to obscure Trump’s con­nec­tions. A Flori­da judge denied the DOJ’s request to unseal grand jury tran­scripts, cit­ing secre­cy rules, while a miss­ing minute from a relat­ed video release has fueled spec­u­la­tion of a cov­er-up. Maxwell’s recent trans­fer to a min­i­mum-secu­ri­ty Texas prison camp has sparked crit­i­cism that she’s receiv­ing favor­able treat­ment, pos­si­bly tied to her coop­er­a­tion, though her lawyer denies any for­mal par­don request.
