California Governor Gavin Newsom pushes for a special election to redraw the state’s congressional map, countering Texas GOP’s redistricting efforts. Meanwhile, Texas Democrats return after fleeing to block a special session, as Governor Abbott plans another session. In Winston-Salem, Forsyth County Schools face a $50M deficit for 2024–2025 due to mismanagement, with a state audit uncovering $75M in COVID fund bonuses paid in 2022–2023, highlighting nationwide issues of financial mismanagement while homelessness and education struggles persist.

  • Gavin Newsom calls for a special election to allow for a new congressional map in California.
  • The democrats will go back to Texas today. The special session in Texas ends. The arrest was for them getting out of town while legislation was in session. Governor Abbott says he will call for a special session again.
  • Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools is not only roughly $50M in the hole for the 2024–2025 school year from mismanagement of funds, but now the state audit revealed that the board gave out $75M in staff bonuses from COVID funds in 2022 & 2023. This is just an example of what has happened all across the country as homeless people are laying in the streets and our children can’t read and write.
