Explore Governor Brian Kemp’s aggressive 2025 push for tort reform in Georgia, dissecting Senate Bill 68’s aim to cap jury lawsuit amounts amid heavy influence from insurance lobbyists bankrolling his campaign. This episode reveals why Kemp’s timing aligns with election cycles, the deceptive Bo Hatchett amendment, and the House’s mild resistance—yet the bill’s passage is a done deal, no special session required. We spotlight John Fervier, Waffle House exec and Kemp-appointed GA State Board of Election chair, backing the reform, and unpack the legislature’s post-sine die fundraising frenzy. Farmers cheer SB144, shielding companies like those using glyphosate under EPA-approved labels, while we analyze Coke and Delta stock shifts since election day and looming Trump pressure for 2026. It’s a deep dive into Georgia’s money-driven politics, legislative tactics, and electoral stakes.

  • Kemp promises a special session if lawmakers can’t pass tort reform. In GA we always legislate on lobby requests and election time. What can bring me money and what can I cash in on and will this bill bring me votes?
  • Tort reform is limiting the amount the jury can sue for… why now for Governor Kemp. Insurance lobbyists in GA are packing Governor Kemps election campaign and promising an enormous amount of money from the insurance lobbyists. He is determined that it will pass. The Bo Hatchett amendment was a little smoke and mirrors. Now on the House side there seems to be a little push back.
  • Now Waffle House John Fervier is the chairman of the GA State board of election appointed by Brian Kemp. is in there supporting the tort reform. The bill will pass. They are looking to see who is in trouble back home and who can vote. They already had their amendment in the senate prepared and the house had their amendment prepared so they give the illusion that they are working for the people. The bill will pass. There will not be a special session.
  • These legislatures cannot raise money while in session. They are waiting for sine die. At 12:01 you will get campaign donation emails. Now at 12:01 everyone wants to start campaigning. And if a special session is called they have to stop campaigning. They will pass the bill and Kemp will sign. It is all a set up and only to send a signal to that House member or Senator to come back in session, a scare tactic.
  • The farmers want SB144. Would protect companies from lawsuits if their product displays a label approved by the US EPA. The EPA has said that glyphosate, the main ingredient in Roundup, is safe to use as directed. The bill contains an exception for companies that knowingly withhold information about health risks.
  • In the state of GA how Coke and Delta stocks have fared since election day. They are looking at Trump support in GA. When will some people in GA put the squeeze on Trump for 2026.
