OPINION: Political Changes in the Air

Submitted by George McClellan

The fear of hoards of MAGA folk sweeping out of the darkness to prevent Democrats from retaining their rightful place in charge of our government, the vaunted Red Tide, didnt happen. Even the Democrats feared with absolute certainty, that they would be swept off the playing field. The GOP approach to this election was on the basis of how awful Biden was without telling us what the GOP would do to reverse Joes destructive policies and stop Americas slide into Socialism. We have a leadership problem up there.

The blame game has started. Everybody is at fault but nobody will take responsibility for the disappointing election results that saw the GOP just barely hanging on as a political party let alone take the House. The knives are already out for Kevin McCarthy as the new speaker of the House. The Freedom Caucus harbors deep suspicions about McCarthy, folding like the disappointing Paul Ryan did in Trump’s first two years, and who will do anything he can to blunt Trump’s efforts at a second term. Representative Andy Biggs of Arizona has decided to challenge McCarthy. Win or lose, there will be hell to pay. Senator Ted Cruz (R‑Tx) likewise fired his cannons across Mitch McConnells bow that will leave senatorial Republicans in a state of shock wondering if they should continue with McConnells leadership or look to someone else. Decisions, decisions. The day of the RiNOs may be coming to an end.

Trump is expected to declare his presidential candidacy for 2024 stirring up the hornets nest of Never Trumpers in the Deep State GOP establishment who yearn hopefully for a return of the once acceptable normality of the moderate Bushes. Republican media pundits like Karl Rove, push hard to maintain the illusion that the GOP can only advance by not abandoning the political philosophy that once kept government running, ie: go along to get along with the political party of the Marxists.

Despite the absolute incompetence of Democrat governance, meaning Bidens foreign and domestic policy messes leaving us on the brink of a nuclear conflagration, unable to heat our homes this winter or drive to work even if we had a job to go to, the purposefully open border allowing millions of illegal potential voters into our midst, failing to address the growing deadly crime menace on our streets, including the early release of felons and offering up their weird candidates like Fetterman and Biden himself for that matter, as just two examples of Democrat nuttiness, and we still didnt beat em, suggests two possibilities, the GOP leadership was deliberately shunning all MAGA candidates and/or, the pursuit of the New World Order ranks so high on the list of future needs as to directly keep the Trump out of a future government if even for four more years.

There are solutions that the GOP Congress can pursue even if Biden vetos them: End gerrymandering allowing communities to avoid being labeled forcing candidates to address the community more as hopeful voters than enemies because of party affiliations. On that point I encourage eliminating open primaries that allow cross over Democrats to select weak Republican candidates of their choosing who can be easily beaten in General elections. Too, General Election ballots should no longer list candidates party affiliation requiring candidate to run their campaigns not as pro party but as pro citizen with the best needs of America in mind. Except for Absentee Ballots requested not sent, ballot boxes should be prohibited save within the confines of a county court house where observant Court Deputies could prevent ballot stuffing. A Convention of States is in the offing to amend the Constitution to provide term limits, balanced budgets, line item vetoes, and prohibit unfettered interference by lobbyist, etc. The danger there lies in the Democrats skillful ability to seize the proceedings and eliminate the first and second Amendments that allow Americans to defend their liberty and the safety of their families. How about defending our America too? America cannot be allowed to become a socialist state simply because Democrats think its best for us. Its time for a change again.

Remember, freedom is the goal, the Constitution is the way. Now, go get em! (15Nov22)
